Indonesian Shoppers Can Now Get Groceries From Home With Supermarkets’ Online Shopping Features Such As Chat & Shop

Grocery shopping from home

The large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) currently in place have not only changed our working, studying, and social arrangements, but also our way of getting daily necessities. Not only do we work from home, but we are also advised to get our groceries online from home.

While there is GoMart on the Gojek app, as well as a number of online shopping websites that offer deliveries of produce and packaged food, we can now also order directly from supermarkets

To curb the spread of the virus, a WhatsApp-based shopping service provided by Matahari Putra Prima, is here to help. Named “Chat & Shop,” it succeeds in using one of the most popular chatting apps in Indonesia.

Downloading extra apps could overcrowd your phone, so using one that you probably already have on your phone saves a lot of hassle.

Chat & Shop used to only accept deliveries within a 5KM radius from a supermarket, but now they will ship to you as long as you are within a 10KM distance away. There is a minimum delivery fee of Rp. 15,000 (~USD0.95).

Whatsapp numbers of supermarkets in more areas are available at the Instagram link

All you need to do is save the number of the outlet (images 4 to 10 in the link) you wish to purchase your groceries from, and wait for a confirmation message from the shop. You can pay in cash, debit, or credit. OVO account holders can also make payments using the app.

Alternatively, there is also the Park & Pickup service, which lets you get your groceries by driving to the location, without having to leave your car.

Both Chat & Shop and Park & Pickup are available at Hypermart, Primo Supermarket, Foodmart Supermarket, and Hyfresh Supermarket

Minimize the time you spend outside

Working in the same place you live in day in, day out for several weeks in a row can get frustrating. Sometimes the temptation to go outside, even if it’s for getting essential needs, can be really strong.

But remember that we are currently living through a pandemic, and the more of us stay at home, the harder it is for the virus to spread.

So the next time you need to buy some groceries, consider using online shopping services such as Chat & Shop.
