With the numbers of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rising every day, it’s understandable that many of us are wary about heading out during the quarantine period, even if it’s only to shop for groceries.
But since we’re living in the 21st century where everything from necessities to furniture can be bought online, we’ve put together a list of 8 online grocery stores in Indonesia. These online grocery stores will make it easier for you to stay at home while keeping your pantry stocked with the essentials.
Even during this pandemic, you can still get your groceries within an hour from HappyFresh – thanks to hardworking ojol riders who will bring them to your house as long as you make a minimum purchase of Rp. 100,000 (~USD6.16). They charge a service fee that ranges from Rp. 22,000 to Rp. 40,000 (~USD1.42 to USD2.58).
HappyFresh works with supermarkets such as GrandLucky, Papaya Fresh Gallery, and Farmers Market for all your grocery shopping needs. Aside from groceries, you can also buy flower bouquets and health products.
You don’t have to worry about having the right amount of cash because they also accept payments via debit card, credit card, or bank transfer.
HappyFresh is also available on the Grab app (click on ‘Groceries’ on the home page).

Other tips you can keep in mind when you’re expecting a delivery from Indonesian online grocery stores: ask the driver to drop the package on your doorstep. You can pick up the package when the driver leaves. This way, you minimize the possibility of virus transmission between yourself and the driver.
Some online grocery stores have contactless delivery in their menu which allows you to ask the driver to put your delivery item two meters away from them. If there isn’t an option, you can write it in the notes section.
Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling groceries, before preparing food, and before eating. Check out these tips from the World Health Organization on how to protect yourself and others during this pandemic.
