A suspected terrorist was shot and killed outside the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 31st March 2021.
Images showed what appeared to be a woman wearing a hijab and black clothes entering the area with a gun-shaped object before the shootout occurred, during which the woman was killed.
The incident, which took place at approximately 4:35 PM local time, was described by the authorities as a “suspected terror attack”.

The suspected terror attack came only four days after an explosion went off outside the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Makassar, South Sulawesi during a Palm Sunday service on 28th March 2021.
The Makassar attack, which injured 20 people, was attributed to two suicide bombers, who were the only fatalities.

Although the Jakarta suspected terrorist attack perpetrator appeared to have acted as a lone wolf, the police are still investigating a possible link to the Makassar incident – which have been linked to Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, a terrorist network affiliated with the Islamic State.
According to National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, 23 terror suspects have been arrested in recent days, including 13 directly linked to the Makassar attack.
Understandably, following the incident, President Joko Widodo’s security detail has been doubled to anticipate any possible threat.
24-hour security has been in place at the State Palace in Jakarta and the Bogor Presidential Palace where President Joko Widodo resides, Presidential Security Force Commander Major General Agus Subiyanto told Merdeka.com.
We hope that the authorities will be able to thoroughly investigate the recent terrorism incidents, and that residents of Jakarta and across Indonesia can be spared from the impact of such incidents in future.
