Jakarta to host drive-in concert in August
Regular concert-goers have most likely been experiencing major withdrawal symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we try to practice physical distancing. However, Indonesia’s entertainment industry has been trying to look for ways to create a safe environment – turning not just to digital concerts, but also returning to classic forms of entertainment such as drive-ins.
In addition to drive-in cinemas, those looking for live entertainment might want to check out Berlian Entertainment’s upcoming Jakarta drive-in concert which will feature well-known Indonesian artists.

New Live! Experience, which is scheduled for 29th-30th August 2020, is the work of concert promoter Berlian Entertainment. It is also supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).
The concert will take place in Jakarta’s JIEXPO Kemayoran, a hot venue for many large-scale festivals including Pekan Raya Jakarta (Jakarta Fair) and WTF (We The Fest). Doors will open at 6.30 PM, though the show will begin at 8.30PM.
Strict guidelines will be implemented to ensure the safety of visitors. For example, a maximum of 300 non-diesel cars can fill up the venue each day, and each car can only carry three people between ages 9 and 60. Additionally, pregnant women will unfortunately not be allowed to join in the fun of the concert.
As for health and hygiene measures, concert-goers will have their temperatures checked before entering the venue, and of course, face masks and hand sanitizer are a must.
Kahitna, Armand Maulana, and Afghan will take the stage

Artists who will take over the stage include Armand Maulana – frontman of popular 90s band Gigi – and solo artist Afghan. The two will perform as Project Afghan Armand, a collaborative project that brings together these pop culture figures.
Perhaps lucky concert-goers will be able to catch their respective ballad hits “Sebelah Mata” and “Jodoh Pasti Bertemu” live.
Kahitna

The drive-in concert will also double as Kahitna’s 34th anniversary celebration. Kahitna, one of Indonesia’s iconic pop groups known for their smash hits such as “Cantik” and “Soulmate”, has been around since the late 1980s, and their fanbase crosses age lines – though their older followers will surely get a chance to take a trip down memory lane.
