Localfest Goes Online, Offering Shoppers Fashion, Food & Music To Help Local Creatives During COVID-19

Localfest 2020 online event runs from 15th to 19th September

After 6 months living with the COVID-19 pandemic, nothing brings us more joy than that sensation of opening the package from our latest online shopping spree. And this isn’t just the hedonist inside me talking, as online shopping has been the most reliable way of supporting local businesses while still obeying health protocols.

It’s because of this that Localfest, a festival showcasing the best of what the local creative industry has to offer, is going online in 2020. Starting from 15th September until 19th September, shoppers get to enjoy exclusive product launches, unique food and drinks, and musical performances, all from local talents.

True to its name, the creative festival first held in 2013 aims to promote emerging talents in Indonesia’s fashion and F&B industries. As there weren’t many events of its kind back then, the event was warmly received by discerning locals looking to support local brands.

Originally, Localfest took the form of a pop-up bazaar before expanding into the multimedia playground they’re now known for with art installations, music performances, and film screenings.

After going on a hiatus since 2016, they were set to stage a comeback on the grounds of the new Senayan Park mall in April but of course, COVID-19 happened. Hence, the new Localfest 1st Online Edition is now on Tokopedia.

Their platform might’ve changed, but rest assured, this is still the same Localfest as that of yesteryear.

Supporting the local creative industry through the impact of COVID-19

While COVID-19 has indiscriminately affected all of us, some are feeling the pain more than others. The creative industry falls under that category and with uncertain times still ahead, it’s up to us to support small businesses within the industry through this pandemic.

Head on over to the Localfest page on Tokopedia or follow them on Instagram to see what’s on offer.
