5. Clairmont Patisserie – boba pearl-topped cakes
Boba Cake

Clairmont is a pretty well-known cake shop chain in Jakarta that does classics such as chocolate cake, but we’d spring for something adventurous such as its pearl-topped Boba Cake (from Rp. 189,000, ~USD13.33).
Some of the shop’s best-selling whole cakes include the Chocolate Ivory Cake and the Eggless Chocolate Cake (both from Rp. 229,000,~USD16.15). There’s also the distinctive Thai Tea Cake (from Rp. 189,000, ~USD13.33).
Mango Passion

Apart from the Boba Cake, other quirky flavor options include the refreshing Mango Passion Cake (from Rp. 220,000, ~USD15.52), and the beautiful Violet Mont Blanc (from Rp. 269,000, ~USD18.98), among others. You can ask for the amount of sugar you want in the mix, which is great for those who don’t have much of a sweet tooth but can’t say no to cake.

Party Cake

Almond Tree is another popular dessert chain in Jakarta, and it offers many cake varieties from its signature recipes to 3D and photo-printed cake. 3D cakes start at Rp. 600,000 (~USD42.32), depending on the size and complexity of the design. It would be a good idea to order well in advance so that there’s ample time to get the cake of your dreams made.

To get a photo of your loved one printed on the cake, you’ll need to shell out an extra Rp. 100,000 (~USD7.05). We recommend getting this on the Double Chocolate Cake (from Rp. 198,000, ~USD13.97) because of its sturdiness and rectangular shape.
There are many other flavors of cake at this store, such as the new Raspberry Chocolate Cake (Rp. 198,000, ~USD13.97), which fuses the sweet and sour taste of raspberry with a luscious chocolate base, as well as the Exotique Cake (Rp. 350,000, ~USD24.69) that combines the flavors of tropical fruit. To have a taste of more than one of Almond Tree’s specialty cakes, get the Party Cake (Rp. 336,000, ~USD23.70), which is made up of 5 slices of different flavors.

8. Cake Et Cetera – sculpted cakes that tell stories
Cake Et Cetera’s owner, Natasha Tantama, has been devoted to cakes for over a decade. This online cake shop is where she offers meticulously designed edible sculptures. A single cake can tell a story, or it can simply be a sweet tower of pop culture characters. The result: diorama-like cakes that seem too good to take a bite from.
There’re different sizes for any occasion, but make sure you order a week in advance so that there’s enough time to design and sculpt the cake with care and precision.

You can choose from vanilla, chocolate and mocha cake. Fillings include vanilla, chocolate ganache, rum and raisins, oreo and cream, strawberry and coffee. Cake Et Cetera is the perfect option for people who truly appreciate edible art.
